Thursday 24th – Friday 25th October 2013
Hosted at the new Barts Health Radiopharmacy

St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, UK

Various buildings at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and The Royal London Hospital in London, part of Barts Health NHS Trust, are currently being transformed as part of a very large private finance initiative (PFI).

A new radiopharmacy is being built at St Bartholomew’s Hospital to support the clinical demands of nuclear medicine. Before the new facility is completely finished we thought it would be useful to bring professionals together to discuss aspects of radiopharmacy design and share experiences. Thus we held a two-day symposium in October 2013 which included lectures held in the historical Great Hall at Barts Hospital and a tour of the new facility.

Approximately 130 people attended and delegates came from far and wide. The professions represented included regulators, managers, GMP inspectors, validation specialists, radiopharmacists, scientists, security experts, engineers and physicists. The subjects covered were wide ranging, from functional design specifications to security, and as you can see from the feedback the symposium was very successful.
Attendees can view the topics discussed and download the lectures of interest.

“I wanted to send you this email to acknowledge the outstanding quality and quantity of programming. I appreciated the opportunity to be part of this rich educational program and found it to be one of the better conferences that I have attended and presented at in a long time.  The speakers that you brought together and their expertise was diverse, topical and valuable.
I believe everyone who attended had a wonderful educational experience

based on conversations that I had with many of the attendees.  I would be honored to have another opportunity to be a speaker at future conferences you might organize and best of luck with your new brilliant state-of-the-art radiopharmacy.
Thank you.”

The new facility is great,
well done…. we certainly have radiopharmacy envy!

“I can think of no other similar event that I have attended which provided such a breadth of excellent speakers and practical advice.
The combination of being able to hear from acknowledged experts, as well as hearing some real world experiences from other practitioners in the field, provided a unique learning experience."

“...I took it as a very rare opportunity to hear in full what it’s like to establish a radiopharmacy from the first person’s perspective. And especially such a ‘cosmic’ radiopharmacy with ‘cosmic’ being the highest degree of a compliment in this case... I heard about so many aspects in so many stages that can get overlooked that to be honest I did not realize existing. The symposium did change the way I was thinking... Priceless, honest knowledge...”

“...Your facility design is phenomenal and facility itself is wonderful...”

“...I was very impressed with your new radiopharmacy and, although it must have been a logistical nightmare for you to arrange the visits to the unit, it was an excellent finale to two very informative days.

Well done and thanks again...”
